This 17 metre whale watching cat was launched in July 2003 and operates out of Hervey Bay Queensland. 

Refitted 2007
In September 2007 Quick Cat had a refit by New Wave which included extension of the hulls, both decks and the addition of a sundeck to the top of the flybridge. The Flybridge was strengthened to carry the passengers. See top photo at right. These changes allowed for an increase in passenger numbers from 80 to 100 and increased the available viewing space for passengers dramatically.

This vessel was built in 2003 by New Wave and the owners were very happy with the stability and economy of Quick Cat. However they needed extra capacity due to the success of the business. Rather than going to the expense of a larger vessel they had CMCS design the modifications to survey and New Wave completed the job in six weeks.

Quick Cat was custom designed to meet the owners specifications using a combination of many years of owners experience in successful whale watching and innovation by the designer Paul Birgan of CMCS. In trials she exceeded her predicted speed by two knots and is proving a very successful vessel.

The vessel is powered by twin 430 hp Cummins engines with a top speed of over 26 knots carrying 80 passengers and 5 crew.

During the whale watching season the vessel does two trips per day and in the off season the catamaran operates as a passenger ferry between harvey bay and Frazer Island.
